MHADA Lottery 2025: Over 5,000 Affordable Homes to Light Up Mumbai This Diwali

Dreaming of owning a home in Mumbai? This Diwali 2025, the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) is gearing up to make that dream a reality for thousands. In an announcement that’s set to excite homebuyers across the city, MHADA has confirmed plans to launch a fresh lottery draw offering more than 5,000 affordable homes across Mumbai.

Speaking to the media, Sanjeev Jaiswal, Vice President and CEO of MHADA, revealed, “We are planning to announce a lottery draw of about 5,000 homes between September and October this year.” While exact locations and pricing details are being finalised, buyers can expect options spread across Mumbai’s prominent localities.

What’s on Offer in 2025?

MHADA officials hint that approximately 5,200 homes will be up for grabs, continuing the authority’s mission to provide affordable housing to Mumbaikars. The complete schedule, list of locations, and price brackets will be revealed in the coming months.

For context, in 2024, over 2,000 homes were offered through the MHADA lottery, with prices ranging from ₹29 lakh to ₹6.82 crore. Premium flats located in areas like Andheri, Juhu, Goregaon, Powai, and even South Mumbai’s Tardeo were part of the draw. Notably, the most expensive unit—a sprawling 1,500 sq. ft. apartment overlooking the Mahalaxmi Racecourse—was priced at ₹6.82 crore.

MHADA’s Housing Push

In its 2024-25 budget, MHADA allocated a whopping ₹9,202 crore towards constructing nearly 19,500 affordable housing units across Maharashtra. Out of these, the Konkan Board, which covers the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), is targeting the completion of 9,902 flats. This upcoming lottery is expected to significantly contribute towards this target.

Who Can Apply?

• Economically Weaker Section (EWS): Annual family income up to ₹6 lakh
• Lower Income Group (LIG): ₹6 lakh to ₹9 lakh
• Middle Income Group (MIG): ₹9 lakh to ₹12 lakh
• High Income Group (HIG): Above ₹12 lakh
