Sanctioned in August 2020, the project was executed by the Special Projects Wing of the State Highways Department. Over the last four years, the corridor has transformed from blueprint to reality — a symbol of Coimbatore’s rapid modernization. With a width of 17.25 metres, the flyover is designed to significantly ease bottlenecks and improve commute times across the city.
The Current Status: Ready for Takeoff
Construction of the main carriageway was completed several weeks ago. In recent days, authorities have focused on final touches — including ramps, road markings, signboards, and streetlights. Out of the planned eight ramps, seven are complete, while one — near PRS Grounds — remains pending due to a legal dispute.
Despite that, officials confirm that the corridor is fully operational and safe. They also clarified that a trial run isn’t required, since the structure has already supported heavy construction traffic without issues.
