Amaravati Construction Must Stay on Track: CM Chandrababu Naidu Pushes for Timely Completion

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has issued a strong directive to government officials and project developers — the construction of Amaravati, the state’s greenfield capital city, must be completed on schedule.

During a high-level review meeting held at his camp office on Friday, the Chief Minister personally assessed the progress of key infrastructure works, ongoing beautification drives, and the registration of returnable plots for farmers who had voluntarily contributed land under the state’s land-pooling scheme.

“There should be no delay in Amaravati’s construction. The capital must be completed within the targeted timeline,” Naidu asserted during the meeting, according to an official release.

Ensuring Speed and Quality in Equal Measure

Naidu emphasized that speed cannot come at the cost of quality. He announced that the government will now conduct a bi-weekly progress review to ensure the city’s development stays firmly on track.

Despite the recent slowdown due to heavy rains, the Chief Minister instructed officials to compensate for the lost time. He called upon construction firms to ramp up workforce deployment and ensure the uninterrupted supply of construction materials, especially gravel, by coordinating with the Mines Department.

Farmer Welfare at the Forefront

The Chief Minister reiterated his commitment to the thousands of farmers who contributed their land for the project. He directed officials to fast-track the registration of returnable plots, ensuring no farmer faces bureaucratic hurdles. Officials informed him that registrations for 2,471 farmers were still pending.

Naidu assured that he would personally meet with these farmers soon, reinforcing the government’s promise of fairness and transparency.

Vision for a World-Class Capital

Highlighting his long-term vision for Amaravati, Naidu stressed that the city must blend modern urban infrastructure with greenery and aesthetics.

“Beautification, greenery, and cleanliness must receive as much attention as construction. Amaravati should stand as a symbol of world-class urban development,” he stated.

The Chief Minister also underscored the need for high-rise structures and contemporary urban planning to give Amaravati a truly global look and feel,  one that positions it among India’s most ambitious and well-planned cities.

With Naidu’s renewed focus and stringent review system, officials and contractors are now under clear pressure to deliver results, and transform Amaravati from a long-pending dream into a reality that represents the future of Andhra Pradesh.
