Some dreams are too big to ignore—and for Anand Pandit, they weren’t just dreams; they became his destiny.
When Anand Pandit watched Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic 1978 film Trishul, something stirred within him. It wasn’t just admiration for the ‘Angry Young Man’ persona of Vijay—it was a life-altering spark. The film didn’t just entertain Pandit; it inspired him to pack up his life in Ahmedabad and move to Mumbai with nothing but ambition and a heart full of admiration for the superstar.
Pandit was captivated by Bachchan’s portrayal of Vijay, a bold character who built his own construction empire, Shanti Constructions. Channeling that same spirit, Anand Pandit laid the foundation for Lotus Developers—his own real estate empire in Mumbai. “I have grown up watching Amitabh Bachchan’s films,” he said in a recent interview. “Trishul really motivated me. I came to Mumbai with the dream of becoming someone like Vijay. Today, I owe it all to Bachchan sahab.”

But what started as cinematic inspiration soon turned into a real-life bond.
Not only did Pandit find massive success in real estate and film production, but he also fulfilled a fanboy’s ultimate fantasy—becoming Amitabh Bachchan’s neighbour. In 2010, he purchased a bungalow right behind the megastar’s iconic residence, Jalsa, purely as a smart investment. But fate had grander plans. When Bachchan later wanted to expand Jalsa, he personally requested Pandit to sell him the property. The deal was sealed at ₹50 crore in 2013.
“I feel privileged to know him so closely. He treats me like family and is always there when I need him,” Pandit shared. Though he sold the property, his proximity to the Bachchans didn’t end there. He still lives just 50 metres away in the Janaki Kutir complex, a stone’s throw from Jalsa.
What began with a movie ticket turned into a millionaire’s real estate deal and a cherished relationship with one of India’s greatest cinematic legends. Anand Pandit didn’t just follow in Amitabh Bachchan’s footsteps—he ended up walking right beside him.
