With the reduction, experts believe project costs will see significant relief, enabling developers to pass on the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/housiey.com\/blogs\/blogs\/registration-bill-2025-new-rules-and-benefits-for-homebuyers\">benefit to homebuyers<\/a><\/strong>. This will not only make housing more affordable but also stimulate fresh demand in the property market.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Industry_leaders_react\"><\/span><strong>Industry leaders react<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Niranjan Hiranandani, Chairman of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hiranandani.com\/\">Hiranandani Group<\/a> and NAREDCO National, called the move a \u201clandmark reform.\u201d He noted that lowering GST on essential construction inputs will ease project viability, reduce input costs, and fast-track infrastructure development. \u201cThis rationalisation is not just a boost for developers\u2014it\u2019s a win-win for consumers, the housing sector, and India\u2019s long-term growth story,\u201d he said. Hiranandani also termed the cut a \u201cfestive bonanza\u201d that aligns perfectly with rising consumer sentiment during the festive season.<\/p>\n<p>Echoing similar views, G Hari Babu, National President of NAREDCO, stressed on the timing of the decision. \u201cAnnounced in the festive season, this will lift consumer sentiment, create fresh demand, and support both developers and homebuyers. It\u2019s a progressive step that strengthens the nation\u2019s growth story,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Deepak Kumar Jain, founder and CEO of TaxManager.in, added that since real estate is among the most labour-intensive industries, this tax relief will be a strong booster. \u201cThe rate cut from 28% to 18% on cement will lower construction costs and help developers manage budgets more efficiently,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Governments_broader_reform_agenda\"><\/span><strong>Government\u2019s broader reform agenda<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while addressing the media after the 56th GST Council meeting, emphasized that this was part of a larger reform agenda aimed at rationalising the tax structure and simplifying compliance.<br \/>\nShe highlighted that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>GST slabs have been reduced to just two\u20145% and 18%\u2014by merging the 12% and 28% categories.<\/li>\n<li>Inverted duty structures and classification issues have been resolved.<\/li>\n<li>The reforms aim at ease of living and doing business by simplifying registration, return filing, and refunds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sitharaman added, \u201cThis reform is not just about rationalising rates\u2014it\u2019s about structural reforms and ease of living.
